Российское философское общество (РФО) RUSSIAN PHILOSOPHICAL SOCIETY (RPS) is the all-Russian voluntary public organization that unites Russian citizens engaged in scientific, pedagogical and educational work in the field of philosophy. The society is open to all those interested in philosophy, as well as to persons who do not have Russian citizenship, regardless of their place of residence.

The main areas of work of the RFO include the organization and holding of scientific events, publishing activities, the establishment and development of scientific contacts both within Russia and abroad. More than 100 conferences, seminars, round tables, creative meetings, etc. are held annually on the initiative of the Society or with its direct participation throughout the country.

The RFO was constituted in 1992 as the legal successor of the Philosophical Society of the USSR, established in 1971. The RFO has an extensive network of primary organizations and branches (about 140) in almost all subjects of the Russian Federation and abroad, includes independent Philosophical Societies as associate members , such as, for example, Moscow, St. Petersburg, Ural, Don, etc., as well as about 50 thematic sections conducting research in various areas of philosophical creativity.

The supreme governing body of the RFO is the general meeting of its members, which is held at least once every 5 years (as a rule, within the framework of the next Russian Philosophical Congress) and which elects the governing bodies of the Society for the next term.
